The Employees’ Retirement System of the City of Baltimore (ERS) is pleased to welcome Veronica P. Jones as the newest member of our Board of Trustees, following her election during the 2025 Active Member Special Election. Veronica was officially sworn in by Mayor Brandon Scott during a ceremony held at City Hall on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Veronica brings a wealth of experience and dedication to public service. She currently serves as the Deputy Labor Commissioner for the City of Baltimore, where she works collaboratively with employees, administrators, union leaders, and HR professionals on employment and labor relations matters across the city. Prior to this role, she served as Chief Solicitor in the City Law Department’s Labor, Employment & Personnel Practice Group.
Her career includes service as an Administrative Law Judge for the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings, Legal Counsel to the Chief Judge of the Maryland Supreme Court, and Ethics Counsel for the Maryland Judicial Ethics Committee. She began her legal career at Venable LLP in Baltimore.
Veronica holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University. She is a recipient of The Maryland Daily Record’s Leadership in Law Award and has published articles in the Monthly Labor Review of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Veronica’s commitment to public service, extensive legal background, and collaborative leadership style make her a valuable addition to the ERS Board of Trustees. We look forward to her contributions in support of our mission to ensure the financial security of Baltimore City’s public workforce.
