Dear Active Members, Retirees, and Beneficiaries,
Welcome to the Fall edition of Retirement Today!
We want to make you aware of an important change in the ERS retirement process. Beginning January 1, 2026, retirement applications must be submitted no less than 60 days prior to your anticipated retirement date. This is a change from the current 30-day requirement. We’ve included a detailed article and chart in this issue to help you plan accordingly. We encourage all members considering retirement in the next year to review this information carefully and contact our office with any questions.
In addition to this change, we’re also working to enhance your online experience. The Member Self-Service (MSS) Portal will soon receive a system upgrade designed to make it more user-friendly and expand its available features. More details on what’s coming are included in this issue, and we look forward to bringing you an improved experience.
We’re also proud to recognize the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards. Five outstanding graduates from the Class of 2025 have each received a $2,500 scholarship from the Retirement Savings Plan and Nationwide to support their college goals. Congratulations to these future leaders—we’re excited to be part of your journey.
We also want to remind you that ERS offers monthly financial education seminars designed to help you make informed decisions about your financial future. Whether you’re nearing retirement or just getting started, these sessions provide valuable information to help you feel secure at every stage of life. In this issue, you’ll find the full schedule for 2026, so you can plan ahead and take advantage of these important resources.
Thank you for allowing us to serve you. We remain committed to helping you build a secure and informed path toward retirement and beyond.
Warm regards,
David A. Randall
Executive Director
